National Sweater Day tomorrow! (February 6th 2020)

NATIONAL SWEATER DAY 2020

Our planet is getting hotter. Your school can help turn down the heat on National Sweater Day.  Tomorrow, February 6th 2020, wear a warm sweater as we will be participating in this world-wide initiative.
World wildlife populations have dropped by nearly 60 per cent in the last 40 years, and climate change is making it worse. Rising global temperatures are pushing one in six species closer to extinction as they struggle to adapt to altering habitats, new predators, extreme weather and changing food availability. Take for example Canada’s Arctic, which is warming at twice the average global rate, causing sea ice – the foundation of life for species such as polar bears and narwhal – to melt.
Since 2010, more than a million Canadians have shown their support for limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius by turning down their thermostats by the same amount (or more) and wearing their favorite sweaters to stay warm.
